West Ham to face yet another setback in the transfer market

Celtic Manchester United

West Ham United have faced their fair share of challenges. They perhaps made some questionable decisions in the transfer market over the years.

West Ham United has been unafraid to spend significant sums of money to strengthen their squad. Especially in the last five years, in their pursuit of progress and success in the Premier League.

Sebastien Haller and Felipe Anderson, two of the club’s five most expensive signings in their history, did not have particularly successful stints at the London Stadium. There are concerns that West Ham manager David Moyes could potentially oversee another costly disappointment with Pablo Fornals.

Several key players, including Tomas Soucek, Vladimir Coufal, Michail Antonio, and Aaron Cresswell, are approaching the end of their contracts next summer. They could potentially leave on a free transfer if new deals are not negotiated.

Will West Ham lose Pablo Fornals on a free transfer?

There have been recent reports indicating that Spanish club Sevilla is considering a move to sign Pablo Fornals from the London club. Sevilla’s sporting director, Victor Orta previously worked at Leeds United in England. He is reportedly showing interest in securing a deal for Fornals in 2024.

According to the report, Pablo Fornals of West Ham will be free to engage in discussions with other clubs starting from January. Hence, a transfer to Sevilla will be one of his preferred options should the opportunity arise.

Pablo Fornals has the option to sign a pre-contract with another team in January. Thus, paving the way for a free transfer next summer due to the expiration of his contract. Therefore, it is imperative for West Ham to reach an agreement for him to extend his contract and avoid losing him on a free transfer.
