Transfers: Chelsea about to make their first signing

About Football Express UK

Chelsea have had a quiet transfer window this time around. This was due to the sanctions put on them by the UK government and the new takeover taking too much time. Although earlier Thomas Tuchel had full control of the Chelsea transfers. However, they have not made any signing yet. Until this moment, Chelsea have had a nonexistent transfer window.

However, Chelsea are to make their very first signing in the form of Leeds winger Raphinha. Todd Boehly is personally in control of transfers for now and is going all out for Raphinha. The Brazilian has been a crucial part of a terrible season for Leeds.

Raphinha and Leeds have had contrasting seasons. While Raphinha has a good season personally impressing everyone and gaining recognition. Leeds have had a terrible season barely managing to stay in the Premier League. Raphinha wants to leave the club in the summer amidst interests from several clubs.

Earlier, Barcelona had met with Raphinha and had agreed on personal terms with him. However, they have not made an official bid yet as they are in financial debt. Moreover, Arsenal recently showed interest in Raphinha as Arteta wants a new forward in the team. However, they are taking too much time to put in a bid.

The Opportunity

Chelsea sees the opportunity in their hands and have made a 65M bid for Raphinha. Raphinha has a year left in his contract and wants to leave. Although Leeds are trying their best to keep him in the squad. It is very unlikely Leeds will be able to keep him in the team. Leeds will be looking to sell him to the highest bidder. Chelsea are the only team to have made a bid for Raphinha as of the moment and Leeds would be looking for a higher bid. However, they need to realize Raphinha has just a year left in his contract and could go on a free if he does end up staying.
