Tottenham Hotspur are looking to steal Newcastle target Lucas Paqueta. Newcastle are looking to buy Lucas but Tottenham are looking to give them tough competition. Lucas is a midfielder at Lyon in Ligue 1.

Tottenham doing good business

Tottenham have made excellent business this season. Moreover, they have been linked to various other good players in the window. Thus, Antonio Conte is looking to build his team and look to win trophies. Moreover, as of today, 24-year-old Lucas Paqueta has done a really good job in Ligue 1. He has scored 11 goals and put up seven assists in 44 games in all competitions.

Paqueta has been thought to make the move away from Lyon for a while. Newcastle are looking to take the player away from Lyon for a fee of 50 million pounds. This would be a club-record signing for Newcastle if they manage to pull the deal off. However, Tottenham are in for the player. Tottenham are playing Champions League football next season and this could attract the player.

Lucas Paqueta is a Brazil international player. He has also done very well for Brazil. Moreover, Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on the player and are now ready to enter the race by placing their bid. They will consider making a bid for him this season. Lucas is valued by Lyon at around 80 million euros or 68 million pounds. This was the same price that Newcastle had quoted in January. Thus it could be going either way.

Paqueta has also been linked with Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal. Also, he currently has around three years left on his contract.

The last time that Newcastle did business with Lyon was when they bought  Bruno Guimaraes. Moreover, the last time that Tottenham bought a player from Lyon was Tanguy Ndombele in 2019.
