Tottenham are looking to replace Harry Kane now and Lukaku seems to be the guy. Kane is gone from the club and have apparently now Tottenham have touched base over a deal for Romelu Lukaku.
The Chelsea striker is currently frozen out of proceedings at The Bridge. He was set for a move to Italy this summer. It was to Juventus but the deal didn’t progress any further.
But according to a report from Alfredo Pedulla , Tottenham could offer him a restart. Pedulla reports that contact has now been made from the Spurs side towards Lukaku for a deal.
Will Lukaku be the right man for Tottenham
Of course, Tottenham are looking for a new striker. This is after selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich. Lukaku has had an up and down few years. This is after shining for Inter Milan initially. Chelsea paid around £100m for the Belgian. But his return to the club never got going.
The player himself is apparently open to playing back in the Premier League this season. Tottenham, then, could be about to offer him an unlikely route back into the English football.
We’ve all seen how good Lukaku can be on his best days. He’s had some excellent games and seasons. When he’s on it, he really is a big threat.
The task for Tottenham and Postecoglou would be getting the big man back to that level again.
Lauded by Thomas Tuchel for being a ‘world-class’ operator. Lukaku could well relish staying in England. The pressure that comes with replacing Kane could benefit him this time around.
