Timo Werner does not want to rule out the possibility of him leaving Chelsea this season

About Football Express UK

Chelsea’s star striker Werner has been linked to a possible exit from the club this season.

He now forcefully stated the fact that he ‘could be happy everywhere.’

The young German international arrived at Stamford Bridge with high hopes at the back of an excellent goalscoring season with Leipzig. However, he failed to live up to the expectations of both the coach and the fans.

However, he has scored 23 goals and 21 assists from the 89 games that he played in a Chelsea shirt. Still, in the last term in the Premier League, he could score only four goals and was given the nod to play only 15 top-flight games.

Recently, Werner was speculated in a swap deal with Matthijs De Ligt to Juventus. However, the Dutch center-back would now join Bayern Munich. Moreover, the signing of Raheem Sterling could be an added competition on the attacking front for Werner.

Werner has started the pre-season on a positive note scoring against Club America during the weekend.

Moreover, he still has three years left on his contract.

What does Werner have to say about his future at Chelsea?

Daily Mail quoted Werner saying,

First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That’s the fact. That’s what I should take care of and the other things will come.”

I could be happy everywhere.”

I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games, I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that.”

It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup.”

“I think it doesn’t change anything whether it is a winter world cup or in the summer. I think if I play half or the season or the whole season, I should play.”
