Liverpool continues interest in securing deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder

About Football Express UK

Liverpool are still interested to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes in the transfer window this summer.

The Reds have made good progress in terms of signing players to bolster the squad for the new season. Having signed Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay, it is safe to say Liverpool have built a formidable squad.

Earlier during the start of the transfer window, the Reds wanted to secure the services of Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

Unfortunately, Liverpool lost the player to Champions League winners Real Madrid and Tchouameni too was keen to join Los Blancos.

Nunes to join Liverpool?

With the interest slowly pacing up and the player linked with Liverpool yet again, the gaffer however thinks otherwise. Klopp previously cleared his stance on the midfield saying he has the required squad he wants ahead of the new season.

Moreover, he is also ready to bank on players from the academy next season but not make another midfield signing. According to Correio da Manha, the Reds have still not entirely ruled out the possibility of landing Nunes at Anfield.

Sporting wants a fee in the region of £45m should the player leave the club this summer for the Reds. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter and dropped the information regarding the potential move surrounding Nunes.

He tweeted-

No bid or negotiations for Matheus Nunes to Liverpool, as things stand. Nothing has changed around this deal.

Liverpool asked for Jude Bellingham in June, but it was impossible deal. Not even a negotiation, as Dortmund consider him ‘untouchable’ this summer.

It is no secret that Liverpool are interested in Jude Bellingham and could sign the midfeilder next summer. Moreover, if they are to sign him in the summer of 2023, Liverpool might as well stick with the current midfield.

This would mean that Nunez to Anfield this transfer window may not be a real possibility.
