TalkSPORT pundit says young Chelsea player looked so poor vs United

Chelsea

Reece James couldn’t make the desired impact off the bench in Chelsea defeat against Manchester United last night.

In fact, Scott Mino has criticised the right-back’s performance yesterday in Chelsea’s 2-1 away loss at Man United in the Premier League.

Reece James was a surprise name on the bench at Old Trafford,

But Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino admitted he’s being cautious with his fitness.

The 23-year-old full-back did enter the action at half-time to try inject his quality. But it’s one of the poorest 45 minutes we’ve seen from him in a long time, something you could say about a lot of his teammates on the night.

TalkSPORT pundit Scott Minto suggests James was nowhere near his best level in his latest outing.

Minto told talkSPORT (6th December): “This is close to a 5-0 game here without United scoring that amount of goals. They are absolutely dominating Chelsea. Reece James has come on and looks like he is a million miles off it. We know how good he can be.

Chelsea captain struggles vs Manchester United

Aside from a couple of very threatening crosses into the opposition’s box, James didn’t exactly shine in the second-half last night.

The Chelsea captain was sloppy on the ball and lost possession several times in dangerous areas, which is very much unlike him usually.

Our hope is he’s back in the starting line-up on Sunday afternoon and back to his best against Everton.

Speaking via beIN SPORTS Asia last month, Pochettino referred to James as one of the best players in the world. This Chelsea team could really do with him catching fire this month during a busy schedule and finding his best form.

We’ve seen in the past couple of years that the Blues are usually at their very best when they’ve got a fit and firing James at right-back.
