Spurs and Udogie: Verbal agreement

About Football Express UK

Spurs have closed in on an agreement verbally with Destiny Udogie, the 19-year-old left back.

The 6ft 2inches tall defender joined the youth team at Hellas Verona. After that, he joined Udinese on loan the previous year. Then, Le Zebrette made a permanent contract for £3.6m just a few weeks ago. The Italian defender immediately solidified his place in the Udinese starting XI – most often playing as a left-wing back. He also scored five goals and made three assists in his 35 Serie A matches in the previous campaign. The teenager has also played four matches for the Italy U-21 team and is under contract for Udinese for another four years. But, looks like his spell with Le Zebrette may be reaching a swift end.

According to a report by Calciomercato, Spurs and Udinese have a verbal agreement for the deal of Destiny Udogie. The transfer is thought to cost the Lilywhites a sum of €25m (£20.9m) with add-ons. Though Udinese were unflinching to retain the services of the highly-rated Italian youngster, they have already given permission to a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. Inter Milan also reportedly tried and failed to sign Udogie. While Lazio, Juventus, Brighton, and Manchester City were all keeping a keen eye on his development in Italy.

Spurs will start their 2022-23 PL campaign at home to Southampton on Saturday. Richarlison is not going to be available due to suspension.
