Spurs Davinson Sanchez is a potential target for AC Milan

Davinson Sanchez

Italian giants AC Milan are in bolstering their back line. They were allegedly in discussions with Spurs over a proposed loan move for Japhet Tanganga. However, after the clubs failed to reach a loan agreement, AC Milan is now interested in his teammate, Davinson Sanchez.

The 26-year-old Defender has reportedly been on Milan’s radar for over two seasons now. Reports say that if the Italian giants fail to secure a better alternative, they will push for a deal for Columbian International.

AC Milan wants a loan deal, with an option to buy the defender on a permanent basis next summer.

Davinson Sanchez is open to a move

There is strong interest in the 26-year-old in a move away from North London, as he “does not like Antonio Conte very much.”

Sanchez joined from Ajax for a reported fee of £42m in the summer of 2017. He has made a total of 180 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions, scoring five times and providing one assist.

However, for the past few seasons, Sanchez has struggled for consistent game time. He has fallen down the pecking order after Antonio Conte’s appointment as Head Coach in November. Conte also established a backline of Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Cristian Romero. This saw Sanchez end the season with only 17 starts.

The arrival of Clement Lenglet on loan from Barcelona would further limit Sanchez’s game time. The Columbia international is likely eager for more regular first-team football, ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

AC Milan are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements. Especially after they allowed Alessio Romagnoli to run down his contract and leave as a free agent.

Milan has been quite active in the transfer window. They have strengthened with the arrival of Charles de Ketelaere, Divock Origi, Junior Messias, and Alessandro Florenzi. All of the above players have moved to San Siro on permanent deals.
