Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Arsenal to sell Emile Smith Rowe. This is inorder to use that money to sign Ivan Toney in the January tranfer window.
The Gunners are expected to be active in next month’s transfer window same as many other clubs. They are currently on top of the Premier League table. And a big addition in January could give them the push they need to win the title this season. Agbonlahor thinks Toney is the one Mikel Arteta should sign this tranfer window.
Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal could benefit both parties
Gabby Agbonlahor went on to say at talkSPORT:
“I think what Arsenal need for Christmas is a goalscoring striker. Some Arsenal fans say, ‘Oh it’s boring, we’ve got Martinelli, Saka, Trossard, Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus will all share the goals.
“But what could they be doing? What could they get with another striker? What could they do with Ivan Toney in that team? How many goals would Arsenal score with Ivan Toney? These tight games they’re winning, with Toney in there, what could he do for that team?
“Can they sell Smith Rowe? The academy graduate has his own song, but he’s not going to get in that team, let’s be honest. You’ve got good money sitting there with Smith Rowe. Sell Smith Rowe and use that money towards Ivan Toney.
“Go out and get him, because otherwise Chelsea or Spurs are going to get him and you’re going to regret it.”
The Englishman didn’t start a single game last season. And he has only made two starts in all competitions since the beginning of this campaign for the Gunners.
However, Smith Rowe is a magnificent talent to have at the club. He can score goals, provide assists, play in a number of positions. His main quality is that he can dribble past people effortlessly. He has all the qualities you would want from an attacking midfielder. And if he stays fit, we’re convinced he will become a star at the Emirates.
