Alan Shearer is confident about Chelsea finishing in top four under Pochettino

The fact that Pochettino is in charge has largely contributed to the optimism that exists in regard to Chelsea’s forthcoming season. A turnaround is obviously necessary this season after the disastrous campaign, which Graham Potter primarily oversaw. However West London club has already seen a dramatic alteration in its roster. This summer, the Blues have let go of 13 players—either for a fee or as a free agent. Former major stars like Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, and Mateo Kovacic have now all moved out. Supporters are feeling quite optimistic about the next season after the preseason. For the first time in more than 12 years, they went undefeated during their tour of the United States.

Shearer recently asserted that he is impressed with the Chelsea’s decision to appoint Pochettino as the club’s new boss for the upcoming campaign. The legend stated: “I think that was a good signing Pochettino. I think he is a very intelligent, clever manager and they are not going to be as bad as they were last season”.

He added that “I don’t see them challenging for the title. I think if they can go from where they were last season to then challenging for the top four again that would be success for them.”

Chelsea coach still wants new signings to perfectly balance the squad

Couple of weeks back  Pochettino stated as follows:

“We need to add players as maybe in another position we miss some players and in that position we have four and sometimes the squad is unbalanced”

“We need to build a balanced squad to have the possibility to complete for a position but not have players who are going to be the third or fourth option to play. It is going to be impossible for one position, for four players to play for one place.”

Chelsea might offload more players and strengthen the midfield department by signing Moises Caicedo of Brighton & Hove Albion. However The Blues’ first major challenge of the year won’t be far off. The Blues are scheduled to face Liverpool on the very first day of the campaign. On Sunday, Jurgen Klopp’s team will be trying to make a statement while also competing for a top-four spot.
