Pochettino takes a U-turn from Chelsea job. Lampard to stay

Frank Lampard

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino has supposedly performed a U-turn on his stance on the Chelsea job following fresh contact from the Blues.

Since Graham Potter’s purple patch in the hotseat came to an end, Chelsea have been on a slippery slope under the Englishman,

winning just three of their last 17 matches in all tournaments and on the verge of relegation.

Current situation

The Blues’ dismal spell of form leaves them fighting for their top-half status in the Premier League table,

Currently 10th in the rankings and 14 points adrift of the Champions League spots

Pochettino – who has been out of work since being sacked by PSG at the end of last season – is said to have rebuffed an initial approach from Chelsea,

Having felt that the Stamford Bridge project was not the right one for him at this moment in time.

However, according to reports contact has now been made with Pochettino,

He is thinking and will be interested in taking on the Chelsea job.

Chelsea travel to Arsenal next week on a run of five consecutive defeats.

The latest Blues result was a 2-0 home loss against Brentford last night after which means they’re still yet to reach 40 points in the Premier League this season.

Frank Lampard’s side rolled over yet again at Stamford Bridge, this time losing a West London derby in front of their own supporters.

Cesar Azpilicueta’s first-half own goal, as well as Bryan Mbeumo’s deflected strike, was enough to earn Brentford another win at Chelsea.

It’s now two years in succession they’ve travelled to the Bridge and secured all three points.

“I just told the players it is not a sob story that everything is going against us,

but I can’t talk about any application things about the squad.

They are trying everything, they are really disappointed in the dressing room and the fans should have no doubt about that,”Lampard said
