Pete O’Rourke drops big Nicolas Pepe claim

About Football Express UK

Everton are said to have identified a potential transfer target in Nicolas Pepe for this season.

The Toffees has till now only made one transfer.

Now, journalist, Pete O’ Rourke claims that Everton could make a potential move for Nicolas Pepe in the coming weeks.

He told GIVEMESPORT,

They may get a real bargain now, whether it’s on loan or not, but I think Everton are in the market for attacking reinforcements.”

They need to replace Richarlison and if Nicolas Pepe is available on loan then it’s something Frank Lampard might look at.”

Frank Lampard is currently desperate to make a new signing. This is essential because after their star striker Richarlison made the move to Tottenham this summer.

Pepe had to adhere to an average time in the Emirates. He joined the Gunners from Lille back in 2019 for an eye-popping fee of £72million. Despite his average performances, he was given adequate opportunities by Mikel Arteta to showcase his talent.

The Ivorian international featured over 20 games for Arteta’s side.

During that time he scored a sole goal and two assists, creating nine goal-scoring opportunities. Nevertheless, Arteta has held him in high regard. He was in full praise for his performances in Europe during the 2020-21 campaign.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Pepe:

He hasn’t had the consistency sometimes in the game time, but I think in Europe he’s been terrific and in the Premier League he’s started to show much more what he’s like, and he’s very hungry.”

Can Nicolas Pepe prosper at Everton if he is signed by the club?

It would be a good signing for Everton if they could acquire the 27-year-old from Everton.

His presence in the team could fill in the absence of their valued striker Richarlison. The Brazilian’s departure from the club has created a dent in the forward line.

Moreover, if Lampard could get him to play his best football, he could pair up very well with Calvert-Lewin.
