Manchester City and Barcelona faced off in a friendly match for charity at the Camp Nou as Pep Guardiola made Bernardo Silva admission.
The Cityzens took on the Blaugrana outfit away from home in a charity match that featured quite a few stars. Barcelona and City found no net result as over 91,000 watched the sides draw 3-3 in the awareness of ALS match.
However, one interesting aspect that made the headlines was regarding Bernardo Silva’s future with the Premier League outfit. Silva has strongly been linked with a move to Barcelona and none of the managers dismissed the possible move.
Pep Guardiola makes Bernardo Silva admission
Cityzens gaffer Pep Guardiola did not shy away from admitting that Bernardo Silva prefers a move to Barcelona. Moreover, Guardiola and Xavi held a joint press conference together and spoke on numerous topics questioned by the media.
One such topic was that of Silva’s future in the summer transfer window which is under subject of speculation. Moreover, Guardiola took the opportunity to address the potential move to Barcelona as he said-
“I am no one to tell Bernardo to forget about anything. Bernardo is our player and we want him with us because he is super important,”
“Having said that, as I’ve always said to my players, I don’t want anyone unhappy.
“If you ask me if I want Bernardo Silva, there is no doubt about that. He’s a superlative player on everything.
The bigger the game, the better he plays.
“We want him. The club wants him. If at the end there’s an offer, that until now there’s been zero offers in the last two years, and both clubs reach an agreement we would see.
But as Ferran Soriano said: we have seven or eight days of the transfer window left and if a player like Bernardo leaves, we must go to the market.
“And right now, that’s not easy. Having said all that, Bernardo loves Barcelona.”
However, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona ends up making a swoop for Silva in the window.
