Eddie Howe's concern

Ryan Fraser was instructed to practise with the under-21s this week. His career at Newcastle United has taken a bad turn.

The Scotsman’s final game for the Magpies came in a 1-0 victory over Everton in October. Fraser has only made the Newcastle squad three times since the World Cup break.

The 28-year-old has been instructed to practise with the club’s second team at their academy site. In regards of their preparation for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley.

He lost interest in competing against Newcastle United players like Miguel Almiron, Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin. Fraser had a chance to leave United during the January transfer window. A move, however, never happened.

When queried about Fraser’s absence last month, Newcastle coach responded, “No, he’s not injured, he’s training. He just has to keep working good and hard.”

“He’s a valued member of the squad. I know him better than anybody, I know what he’s capable of. So I’d love to see him back in a Newcastle shirt.”

The 45-year-old was compelled to say there was no animosity between him and the player. When Howe was hired by Newcastle United in November 2021. When the Premier League resumed after the Covid-19 pandemic, Fraser decided not to sign a contract extension. That would have allowed him to play for Bournemouth.

Yet, Howe regularly selected the former Aberdeen player as he led Newcastle United to PL safety last year. He has achieved great success.
