Monza closing in on Pablo Mari

Serie A squad Monza are on the verge of signing the out-of-favor Arsenal defender, Pablo Mari. The center half fell down the pecking order last season. This was due to the landing of Ben White and now, William Saliba following his return from the loan on Marseille.

Mari has already been involved in the Gunners pre-season. But it looks like he does not have a future at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta. He only has two years left on his contract with Emirates. Udinese signed Mari on loan for the later part of the previous season. During his tenure, he became an important player and netted twice in 15 Serie A matches. Also, a permanent move to Le Zebrette did not materialize for Mari. He is also believed to have been in talks with Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce over a summer transfer move.

Now, the Daily Mail reports that newly-promoted Serie A side Monza are almost done with a deal for Mari. This is going to be a loan-to-buy deal with certain conditions. The report also said that the 28-year-old might join the club permanently if they manage to avoid relegation this season. Mari has reportedly snubbed the opportunity to work under Jorge Jesus, again at Fenerbahce. Hellas Verona and Udinese are waiting in the wings if a move to Monza falls through.
