Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the debut of a new player ahead of Chelsea and Sheffield United’s clash. The Argentine coach is going to give a start to the Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. Moreover, this would be the first ever Chelsea start for the ex New England Revolution player. The goalkeeper came in place of Robert Sanchez in the ending minutes of Chelsea and Everton clash. However, he conceded a goal right after stepping onto the pitch. But that’s quite understandable as the player will need time to adapt to the premier league. Furthermore, he’s starting against Sheffield on Saturday and it would be interesting to watch that what has the young player got to showcase.

According to the Chelseachronicle, Mauricio Pochettino was seen praising the Serbian goalkeeper. He believes that the keeper can step up and deliver for the blues according to the standards that Robert Sanchez has set.

” Robert Sanchez was our main goalkeeper. When players like him are out of the squad, it always hurts and the team misses him. However, we’ve got another goalkeeper working very hard for his replacement. Petrovic is a wonderful player. He’s got a chance to showcase his abilities. He’s been working hard since his arrival this summer. The player has got a lot of potential and that’s the reason we bought him”. – Mauricio Pochettino said.

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Petrovic’s debut and the goalkeeper has a wonderful opportunity ahead of him.

As per the reports, Robert Sanchez is likely to be out of the squad for several weeks. Moreover, he’s also going to figure out his recovery time keeping in mind the upcoming matches of Chelsea. But one thing is for sure and that is his long absence from the squad. Djordje Petrovic should take this opportunity with both the hands. The manager is going to start him against Sheffield and he can prove that he’s an incredible backup goalkeeper to rely on. Furthermore, he can win the confidence of the coach with his performances and he can even become the main goalkeeper for Chelsea even after Robert Sanchez’s return.
