Marc Cucurella will don the Chelsea outfit this season as he joins the club from Brighton on a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Manager Thomas Tuchel and the board were keen to secure the services of the Brighton ace this transfer window. Moreover, both the parties were pushing for the exit but the move wasn’t straightforward this summer.
Chelsea had to rival the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona to eventually land the player at the Bridge. The defender relished an impressive debut season with the Seagulls which immediately gained the attention of clubs across Europe.
Marc Cucurella is a Chelsea player
Marc Cucurella was linked with an exit since the beginning of the transfer window. Chelsea were keen to sign a defender after losing out on Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt earlier this summer.
Chelsea made a vital signing in the former La Masia player who could prove to be important in the back-line. Speaking on his move to the Bridge, Cucurella said-
‘I’m really happy. It’s a big opportunity for me to join one of the best clubs in the world and I’m going to work hard to be happy here and help the team.’
The chairman of the club, Todd Boehly too expressed his delight-
Marc is an elite defender of proven Premier League quality and he further strengthens our squad going into the new season.
We continue to work on and off the pitch, and we’re delighted Marc will be a part of the present and future at Chelsea.’
Certainly, Chelsea are slowly pacing up in the transfer window and building a balanced side. However, the club still has to work on the front-line as the gaffer has a few players in mind to sign.
