Man United and Bayern Munich are closing in on the possible signing of Raphael Varane. The French defender has been out of favours with the Red Devils, with Ten Hag preferring Harry Maguire and Lindelof over the World Cup winner. United want to keep the French defender but won’t hesitate to part ways if a considerable offer arrives. Reports suggest that Man United may ask for former Man City winger Leroy Sane as a swap deal. United desperately need a winger for the right flank with current wingers not performing up to their standards. United want to solve the Jadon Sancho situation with this swap deal.
The Jadon Sancho saga
Jadon Sancho was considered one of the best signings for the Red Devils few summers back. The English winger quickly became one of the fan favourites at the Old Trafford. But his time at United as the new star came to an abrupt end after a media tussle with Erik Ten Hag. Jadon Sancho arrived from Borussia Dortmund at Man United in 2021 summer. After his fallout with the manager on social media and in the press, Man United hoped to find a resolution in this International break. However, any reconciliation seems far fetched right now with the winger expected to leave the club in January.
United interested in Leroy Sane
The Red Devils have been a long admirer of the German since his days at their rivals Man City. Erik Ten Hag is keen on bringing the German to Old Trafford and prefers to play him over Anthony at the right wing. But there is a major setback in United’s plan, as the German winger has himself denied any link to joining Man United. According to the Daily Mirror, Sane said to the media,
“That won’t happen! That won’t happen (joining United), that won’t happen at all. I am really happy here and I’m on the right side!”
The player clearly doesn’t want to betray his former club and join their arch rivals.
