Liverpool: Subcontractor for Anfield Road End in administration

Liverpool

Plans for Liverpool development of the Anfield Road End have changed. A cladding subcontractor filed for bankruptcy last month.

The present roof supposed to removed as part of Liverpool October announcement of the next stage. The World Cup break planned to be the time for that work. Construction News claims that cladding subcontractor SD Samuels, before completing their work, filed for administration in December.

The company also suffered a six-figure loss on one project, in addition to “losing a key donor at short notice” and “complications on a number of initiatives.”

It is a depressing representation of the reality that many businesses in the UK are currently experiencing. From Liverpool standpoint, it resulted from a reconsideration following logistical challenges in the winter.

A top sheet and a soffit sheet are already in place for the cladding. Work on the roofing is still ongoing.

The Buckingham Group, who in charge of the rehabilitation works, declined to comment.

However, SD Samuels hasn’t given its sister business the Anfield project, therefore the search for a new subcontractor will go.

The Anfield Road End addition cost at least £80 million and increase the stadium’s capacity by 7,000 seats, which would be finished in time for the upcoming season.

Liverpool has always had a backup plan to remove the current Anfield Road roof, and that is the current course of action.

The project’s timeline does not need to be adjusted, and work is still being done. The installation of two steel hunches on the building’s northwest and northeast sides done.
