Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is lately compared to Argentina legend Lionel Messi. Mac Allister is a steady and balanced signing so far for the Reds. When told to play in an out of syllabus No.6 role, the 24-year-old is still getting to expected only he best out of him. Hence the liverpool player was compared to Messi by the national media.
But according to GOAL, it’s a different story altogether with his national team. Handing him a 7/10 for his display in Argentina’s 1-0 win over Paraguay last night, Mac Allister has actually shown some ‘Messi-esque’ moments.
Liverpoo player compared with Messi:
With Messi himself only glorifying the bench that day, Alexis appears to take on some of the legendary forward’s responsibilities on his own shoulders.
Reports claim that Liverpool’s No.10 ‘absolutely dazzled’ in one sequence the edge of the Paraguayan box, and was ‘fantastic’ overall.
As he does for the Reds, Mac Allister is also said of keeping things ‘ticking along’ with the ball. Meanwhile, he reportedly showed his learnings in a deeper role. Moreover, he also did some ‘fantastic tackles.’
He made a slightly awkward return to Brighton last weekend in the premier league. Now it’s great to see Alexis send a reminder of exactly how good he is. That even led the media to him compared to Messi.
It’s perhaps true that his performances in Liverpool are not upto the mark yet.
However, over the past couple of weeks, Mac Allister saw some small shoots of criticism for his performances at Liverpool.
But all the while it must be remembered that the World Cup winner is playing quite an unnatural role. He is playing very good at times as a holding midfielder. However, it shouldn’t be his long-term position for the Reds. However, it’s quite a great achievement of him on being compared to Messi.
