Liverpool moving close to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich

Liverpool

Liverpool has few hours to finalise any potential last-minute transfers as the clock continues to run down. Ryan Gravenberch, who Jürgen Klopp appears to be very fond of and who might just be the missing piece in the puzzle for Liverpool’s midfield revolution, is still a target for the club. Liverpool has lost players including James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, and Jordan Henderson this summer. The Anfield club has added Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield ranks.

Ryan Gravenberch prefers a move to Liverpool over United

The summer transfer season has just two days remaining, and on Wednesday it was claimed that Liverpool were negotiating a deal to sign Bayern midfielder Gravenberch. After a private plane was seen flying into Blackpool International Airport from Munich, speculation has emerged that Liverpool may be close to signing the Dutch midfielder. The flight was spotted on the flight-tracking website Flight Rader 24 and was scheduled to land on August 31 at 2:08 PM.

Christian Falk of BILD reports that Bayern anticipates Liverpool making an offer of €30 million for Gravenbrech. Ryan Gravenberch reportedly ‘missed training’ on Thursday because he is ‘hoping’ to join Premier League club Liverpool. The midfielder has been linked with both Liverpool and Manchester United. However he reportedly stated that he ‘favours’ a move to Liverpool.

The Reds will submit a €30 million bid in few hours

The Dutchman, who joined the Bundesliga champions from Eredivisie team Ajax, has hardly made a name for himself in Bayern. Thus he is eager to join Liverpool to get regular game-time. According to The Athletic, Liverpool made it obvious that the team was looking for a more versatile midfielder. Gravenberch unquestionably fits into the category. He is arguably most effective when playing further forward or in a box-to-box midfield position. However he is also good at dropping back as a number six and playing deeper to get the ball out and advance it into attacking spaces.

Gravenberch isn’t a typical no.six. He is not a great ball winner. But he was among the top 15 midfielders in the Bundesliga last season with an average of 4.06 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes. Hence he might give Klopp enough versatility to help him both attackingly and defensively. According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Gravenberch is “ready to join Liverpool”. The Reds will readily offer €30 million bid to Bayern today in a few hours. While Bayern has already made their mind to sell him and replace the former Ajax midfielder with Joao Palhinha.
