Ryan Gravenberch has spoken about which Liverpool teammate has surprised him as he closes in on a month at the club.

Ryan Gravenberch says the quality of Dominik Szoboszlai has surprised him in light of the Hungarian’s wonder strike in Liverpool’s win over Leicester City.

Szoboszlai unleashed a venomous strike into the top corner to hand the Reds a lead at Anfield on Wednesday. It was the 22-year-old’s second goal of the season and his first in front of the Kop after opening his account against Aston Villa on September 3.

He arrived to Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60m in the summer and has enjoyed a strong start to life on Merseyside. The dutch midfielder followed Szoboszlai across from the Bundesliga to the Premier League – for their first taste of top-flight action in England.

Gravenberch is surprised by Liverpool training

Gravenberch admitted that the technique of Szoboszlai has left him stunned, including shooting in sessions where ‘they all go in’.

“It was Dom Szoboszlai. Because his shot, you saw it yesterday, it’s crazy,” the 21-year-old said via Reddit.

“Sometimes we shoot after the training and it’s like one, two, three, they all go in. I think it’s Dom with his shot.”

Gravenberch becomes a rare first-team member to wear the number 38 shirt but he joins a long list of players to feature for the club.

However from the list of iconic Reds to star for the club down the years, the Holland youngster couldn’t pick a favourite but named Steven Gerrard and his former Bayern Munich teammate, Sadio Mane, as some of those who caught his eye.

He added: “This is a good one. I don’t have one player, I have a few.

“I’d go for Steven Gerrard, also (Fernando) Torres. I played with him at Bayern – Sadio Mane, also a good player. And of course (Gini) Wijnaldum.”
