Liverpool maintain contact with Barcelona based attacker

Liverpool

Liverpool are “fully informed” about the transfer situation involving Barcelona striker Ansu Fati.

Fabrizio Romano, a journalist, recently made the somewhat unexpected allegation that Fati would go on sale this summer. The transfer analyst acknowledged that Liverpool is one of the teams that has already gotten in touch with Fati’s agency while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“Keep an eye on the situation of Ansu Fati for the summer. For now, Barcelona are still protecting him. The second part of the season will be crucial to understand if Ansu Fati will continue at Barca or try a different opportunity around Europe in the summer,” Romano explained.

“I can confirm that English clubs had conversations with the agent of Ansu Fati asking for potential conditions of the deal. Clubs like Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool were informed around the general situation of Ansu Fati.”

However, it seems as though any interest is still at the very early stages. Romano claims that no club have seen fit to begin negotiations with Barcelona just yet.

“They never made any official bid or any negotiations with Barca, but they are well informed on the Ansu Fati situation,” he said. “So, let’s keep an eye on this one for the summer, depending on Barcelona. At the moment as Laporta said they don’t want to sell him, they still love him as a Barca player, but it will depend on the second part of the season.”

Uncertainity prowls over Fati at Barcelona as Liverpool look to acquire him

The situation with Fati in Barcelona is rather peculiar. The 20-year-old is a potential extraordinary talent.

When Lionel Messi joined PSG in 2021, he received the No. 10 jersey, and the same year, Goal’s NXGN series ranked him the world’s top young talent.

Why then is there a chance that he will leave Barca for Liverpool? Well, Fati doesn’t seem to be playing enough, which is sometimes the case when a person loses interest.

This year, he has played in 20 La Liga games and has been an important member of Xavi’s team. However, he has only begun seven of them. Even if he is still a very young player, it might not be sufficient for a player Samuel Eto’o once described as “wonderful.”

The well-publicized financial condition of Barcelona is another factor. Fati’s salary may be a desirable amount for the Catalans to remove off the books because of his lengthy contract that runs until 2028.

The wide position of the Spain international looks great at Liverpool, at the moment. However, he’d be a great signing if the price was right.
