Liverpool eyeing André Trindade after Roméo Lavia bid collapses

In just ten days, Liverpool will kick off their Premier League season against Chelsea. Following the exits of captain Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool are in a rush to bring in new midfielders before the season’s first match at Stamford Bridge. The Reds are looking for a midfielder with the same profile as of Fabinho.

Liverpool willing to sign 22 year old Brazilian international André Trindade

According to Brazilian media, Liverpool has offered a contract for signing André Trindade. Fluminense also stated that they intend to keep their star player until the end of the season. However, Romeo Lavia still is the top priority for Liverpool. Liverpool’s goal remains to sign Southampton’s Roméo Lavia, with André viewed as an extra backup option. The Reds are now negotiating a deal with Southampton. However they already rejected two of their proposals with the latest bid worth £41m. As a result, Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade has surfaced as a possible replacement. But, with the inaugural game of the fresh campaign just around the corner, the Reds aren’t willing to take any risks.

Liverpool regards the youngster as an ideal heir to Fabinho, according to AS. André has great defensive prowess and a good passing accuracy. The Brazilian serves as a deep-lying playmaker with the ability to play box-to-box. He is technically strong, can connect with teammates from defence to attack. He possesses a knack for long-range passing, and can also help defensively.

The Reds has made contact with Fluminense for the brazilian midfielder. Some reports has stated that the only chance for the midfielder to leave his current club is to ask Liverpool to pay €40 million. The other option is to pay a lower premium to obtain the star for the following year. Jürgen Klopp’s team might ‘depend on the support’ of Jorge Mendes to bring in the Brazilian international to Anfield. Fluminense are willing to accept a sum of €25-30 million if the midfielder moves out at the start of next year in 2024.

The Reds must pay a larger sum if they want to sign Andre this summer

However Fluminense is said to require a ‘much higher payment’, around €40m and €50m with bonuses, to allow the player leave ‘this summer’. Andre’s current deal expires in three years, placing Fluminense in a solid position to demand a large amount if they are compelled to sell their top player this summer.

According to the the same report, Liverpool would prefer to complete the deal for André ‘in a short time‘ to ensure he is available to Klopp as soon as possible. For the time being, the two teams remain in contact, and AS has stated that ‘nothing has been decided yet’ about André’s transfer to Anfield. Andre is a highly competent player with a lot of potential. So, if Liverpool decides to sign him during the current transfer window, it would prove to be a wise signing.
