Guardiola praised Rico Lewis and reveals the only problem he has with 18 years old City youngster

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola praised Rico Lewis greatly after the 18-year-old’s stunning performance in their 3-1 win against RB Leipzig. He had dominated the midfield in that game alongside Rodri. However, due to his exceptional style of playing, pundits went on comparing him with City’s former captain, Ilkay Gundogan.

Guardiola praised Rico Lewis

Guardiola praised Rico and claimed Lewis was one of the best players he has ever worked with. However, he said the only thing he is lacking is height, after an exceptional performance in the victory in Leipzig in the Champions league.

Wow. An amazing, outstanding player, lucky to train someone like him,” Guardiola told TNT Sports.

I’ve worked with so many great players at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City but to find someone like him, not scared, defending really good. He needs to be a bit taller, mum and dad didn’t give him much to be taller. Apart from that he has everything.” He further added.

Lewis came into the City’s senior team last season from the academy although he didn’t play much in their run towards winning the historic treble. However, the teenager is now knocking on the door for a starting place in Sunday’s vital Premier League game against Arteta’s Arsenal.

City’s left winger Phil Foden added:

“I thought he was brilliant today in midfield. Rico has the courage to play at such a young age, and it’s nice to have a Man City academy player on the pitch with me today, so I’m happy for him!”

Thus, Guardiola praised Rico and not only him, but every player in the city squad are praising him. He may turn to a great player of City if he continues playing in such a way and continues working hard.
