Gareth Bale declared his retirement from football on Monday, and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has now revealed that he will invite Bale to play golf with him. Storied Wales forward made his decision to retire from the game known in a lengthy social media message. After a brilliant career that saw him win the Champions League five times, he now has more time to pursue his interests outside of professional football.

Bale will receive another invitation from Guardiola, who acknowledged in his news conference that he had previously asked the former Real Madrid player to play golf with him but had received a negative response.

Pep Guardiola’s Failed Attempts To Sign Gareth Bale

Guardiola acknowledged that Bale was always out of his price range in his remarks prior to his team’s Carabao Cup quarterfinal matchup with Southampton on Wednesday. However, the devoted golfer can now focus on his second sport of passion.

“Too expensive,”

Guardiola responded when asked if he ever tried to sign Bale.

“What a player. Fantastic career, won a lot of things. I think he represents Wales with more than 100 caps and now he can become a fantastic golf player.”
