Fans spot new Arsenal signing Emily Fox in the training

Arsenal

Arsenal are expected to sign Emily Fox during the January transfer window, and, although there has been no confirmation from either Arsenal or North Carolina Courage,

The player seems to be already in training with Arsenal.

Eagle-eyed Arsenal fans spotted what looks to be Emily Fox in the background of Arsenal training images which were posted on Getty.

Fox, known for her ability to play on both the right and left flanks,

Will be a key acquisition for the Gunners, who are signing her as a restricted free agent.

Arsenal signed Emily Fox to boost their team

In women’s football in the USA, a “restricted free agent” is a player whose contract has expired with their current team, but they are not entirely free to sign with any other team.

The restrictions typically include the original team having the right to match any offer the player receives from another team, or receiving compensation if the player signs elsewhere.

This arrangement is a common feature in collective bargaining agreements in leagues, aiming to balance player freedom with team rights.

The image, which seems to feature Fox, was quickly remove from Getty, but not before Arsenal sleuths had spotted it.

One even pointed out that the person in this image is wearing Under Armour boots,

Which is the company that sponsors Fox.

Arsenal women are currently in Portugal on a warm weather training camp.

Fox joining the Gunners will be the second USWNT star heading to the WSL this January window,

With the other being Kristie Mewis, who landed at West Ham after making a transatlantic switch from Gotham FC. She’ll look to bolster their defensive ranks while also providing competition for Katie McCabe, Noelle Maritz and Steph Catley.

Nothing is official until the clubs announce otherwise, but Fox

And the Gunners appear to have struck a deal with the North Carolina Courage to send her over to England. The Gunners are next in action on Sunday, January 14 against Watford in the FA Cup.
