Fabrizio Romano said the potential return date of the Chelsea striker who’s yet to play a league game

Wright Chelsea's Potter

Fabrizio Romano said that he has released an update on Christopher Nkunku, the Chelsea attacker. He was injured in Chelsea’s final preseason game and is yet to play a full game in the premier league this season.

The policy with all of injured players of Chelsea is to ease them back in very gently. However, Romano insists that this policy extends to potential jewel-in-the-crown Nkunku. We’ve seen him back training on the grass, but there won’t be any rush to get him involved with the rest of the team just yet.

Fabrizio Romano said about Nkunku’s return date:

In his latest tweet, the leading sports journalist Fabrizio Romano said that:

Understand Chelsea decision is to take no risks with Christopher Nkunku’s comeback. It’s not expected to happen this weekend vs Manchester City.

#CFC still planning with Nkunku back after the next international break.

Chelsea will “take no risks” with the former Leipzig man. However, they are looking ahead to the upcoming international fortnight as a target for him. That worked out well with other injured players last month, and if it’s accurate could mean we see the Frenchman finally in Blue by the end of this month.

Even that seems a little soon – but he will certainly be very close to a return by the time Chelsea face Newcastle on the 25th of this month.

Chelsea are currently lagging behind due to the absence of a worthy striker. They signed Nkunku from RB Leipzig with a record transfer fee. However, ye got injured in the pre season without playing a single league game yet. And Chelsea go one of the worst league starts of history this season. So Nkunku’s return is necessary for Chelsea to drive up their position on the league table.
