Fabrizio Romano reveals Mikel Arteta’s interest in £47m midfielder

Mikel Arteta

Fabrizio Romano has just revealed the next transfer target for Arsenal. He told that Mikel Arteta has been an admirer of this player for many years. However, the Gunners have not made a bid for the player yet. Talking on The Debrief, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arteta is a huge fan of Ruben Neves, claiming that he’s been asking Edu about signing the midfielder for years. He said,

“I think we have these links because of Mikel Arteta. From what I’m told, Mikel Arteta has always been a fan of Ruben Neves, he’s always appreciated the player since he was at Wolves, he was always one of the midfielders that he has indicated to the directors and to Edu in meetings over the past two or three years, discussing midfielders, the name of Ruben Neves has always been around, but at the moment there are no negotiations,”

Mikel Arteta has been a phenomenal manager for Arsenal and has proved himself time and time again. Arteta has successfully improved Arsenal from a mid-table finish every season to strong title contenders.

Arsenal’s need for a decent midfielder

The Gunners have been struggling in the midfield with Kai Havertz not performing as expected and Thomas Partey being injured. But, a proper midfielder could bring stability to the team. Also, Neves has an ability to convert long shots into goals. Maybe Ruben Neves is the missing piece to the squad which will make Arsenal winners again. The January transfer window is just around the corner and Arsenal could use this opportunity to secure the signing of the Portuguese midfielder. The ex-Wolves star has been performing well this season in the Saudi Pro League. However, the player can be open to an idea for a Premier League return. Arsenal management should listen to Mikel Arteta and atleast make a bid for the Portuguese this winter.
