English duo injured before Man City vs Liverpool game

Fantasy premier league

England faced North Macedonia in the European Qualifiers for the UEFA Euro 2024. The English National team failed to secure a win against the North Macedonian side. They both drew 1-1 at the Tose Proeski Arena. After the game, the Three Lions complained about the quality of the pitch at the Tose Proeski Arena. International breaks are notorious for the injuries to the players. But mostly due to fatigue or direct tackles, but when players pick up injuries due to bad quality of pitch, it’s simply not acceptable. With Club football coming to its decisive stage, teams can’t afford further injuries. Same happend with Man City stars Phil Foden and Jack Grealish just before their clash with potential title contenders Liverpool.

Man City injuries ahead of Liverpool match

Mateo Kovacic, Nathan Ake, Matheus Nunes and Ederson were forced to withdraw from their respective national teams. John Stones, Sergio Gomez and Kevin De Bruyne are sidelined for long term, while Rodri and Erling Haaland both missed games for their countries but are expected to be fit before Liverpool game. This list got longer with Phil Foden and Jack Grealish joining them. Grealish talked to the media after the match, highlighting the reason for the injury. He said,

“I have got cuts all over, the pitch was awful. It baffles me how pitches like that are acceptable, to be honest.

He revealed that there were little stones on the pitch,

“There were like little stones everywhere. Phil has cut his hand because of the stones on the pitch, but yes, it is part of what you are going to get to some places.”

Man City face Liverpool in the Etihad, both teams separated by a single point in the table. The team which wins this fixture may go on to win the Premier League title this season. Long injury list will surely raise concerns for Pep Guardiola moving ahead.
