Chelsea set £37m price tag on in from Belgian striker

Chelsea are confident that they will finally get rid of Romelu Lukaku next summer after loaning him to AS Roma. The Belgian forward has hit the ground running since his move to the Serie A outfit.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues have set a price for the Belgian forward, which will be in the region of £37 million. This is a decent price and should be accepted with no negotiations.

The 30-year-old has been in terrific form for both club and country this season. Lukaku has netted six goals so far, and during the November international break, he scored four goals against Azerbaijan on Sunday.

His growing form will be good for Chelsea to sell him at a decent price. Moreover, Roma are also now willing to pay the amount the Blues have asked for Lukaku.

Chelsea set to release Lukaku:

Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the former Manchester United forward to Roma, but his future as Serie A club manager remains in doubt. Lukaku was signed as Tammy Abraham’s replacement. However, he is in sensational form and will hopefully continue with it throughout the season.

Chelsea will look for another striker in January or the next summer window once they offload the Belgium striker. They have had issues scoring goals, and signing an established centre-forward remains an objective for the Blues.

Lukaku has been playing flawlessly for Roma and Belgium. However, if he keeps up this level of play, selling would be easier. It is because the team would want a striker in his prime. But, given that Mourinho is unlikely to stay at the Serie A club for the upcoming season, anything might happen in the summer of 2024. The 30-year-old may potentially decide to reverse his choice to join Roma.
