Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic is holding out for getting a dream move to Manchester City. The Fiorentina star is eyeing the move despite interest from the likes of Premier League rivals Arsenal.
This is according to news coming from La Repubblica. The report suggests that Dusan Vlahovic is ready to stay in Italy till the end of the season to get his move to Manchester City.
Manchester City has been in the market for a centre-forward and was linked heavily with Harry Kane of Tottenham. However, with the move not happening, the Citizens looks to have shifted their focus to other targets including Dusan Vlahovic.
SERBIAN RIPPING UP SERIE A
Dusan Vlahovic has been one of the breakout stars of the last year, hitting incredible form with Fiorentina. The Serbian hit 21 goals in the 2020/21 season of Serie A and have hit 17 goals already this season in the league from 21 games. (all stats taken from Transfermarkt)
His incredible goalscoring ability has made him one of the top prospects in the transfer market. The 21-year-old will see his contract with Fiorentina ending in 2023. Vlahovic wants to move to a bigger club and hence is not signing a contract extension. This meant that Fiorentina is desperate to sell the player when the time is right, rather than waiting for more.
Arsenal is one of the sides that is monitoring the player along with the likes of Juventus, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners are ready to meet Fiorentina’s asking price in January to avoid the competition. However, Dusan Vlahovic wants to move to a Champions League side and is ready to hold till summer to move to Manchester City.
DUSAN VLAHOVIC ONE AMONG MANY OPTION FOR MANCHESTER CITY
It is no secret that Manchester City is in search of a goalscoring striker to add more dimensions to their attack. However, their pursuit of Harry Kane was in vain as Tottenham was not ready to sell the England international.
While City is still monitoring the situation of Kane, the club is now shifting attention to other strikers as well. This include Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund and Dusan Vlahovic. Haaland will have his release clause activated in the summer and reports coming to suggest that Citizens are the favourites to land him.
Dusan Vlahovic is also a target for Manchester City as the Serbian will be cheaper. The Premier League champions are also linked with Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich and Julian Alvarez of River Plate.
With Dusan Vlahovic holding out for a dream move, City could be ready to go with the Serbian. Though it is still not clear who City will be signing, it looks like the blue half of Manchester will be adding a new striker to their team very soon.
