According to reports, Chelsea is looking to activate the purchase option for their on-loan player Saul Niguez. The move comes as a surprise since Thomas Tuchel‘s side already boasts of plenty of solid options in midfield.

CHELSEA’S OPTIONS

The Blues currently have Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus Cheek in their reserves and will be buoyed by the return of Billy Gilmour and Connor Gallagher.

Looking at Gallagher’s loan spell at Palace, he will be an important addition to this Chelsea side if he manages to keep up his current form.

This leaves out Saul Niguez, the player they loaned in from Atletico Madrid in the summer. According to reports, Chelsea is rethinking its purchase option. Which, a few months ago would have been totally out of question.

The Spaniard has had a rough start to life at Stamford Bridge. However, his recent displays have shown considerable improvement, especially the EFL cup game against Tottenham Hotspur.

SAUL’S INITIAL TROUBLES

When asked about his experience so far, the 27-year-old midfielder had this to say to The Daily Star:

“In my first match, I was a bit disorientated because I was used to doing things differently and it was a bit strange for me.”

“The truth is it hasn’t been easy but I’m very grateful to my team-mates and the club for making it easier for me to adapt. After training, the Spanish ones can translate for me. But that can also be difficult in the moment if I don’t understand the phrases such as ‘man on’ or ‘time’ myself, or if I don’t know if I’m supposed to turn or not.”

The Spaniard went on to say that his English is currently improving and it is becoming easier for him to understand what the coach says.

He also thanks Chelsea for showing their continued support in difficult times. The midfielder is now eager to do even better after a promising spell and hopefully extend his spell. The Blues have a £30 million purchase option on him if they wish to make it a permanent move.

TRIPLE MOVE FOR CHELSEA?

Blues’ chief Marina Granovskaia has three names on her summer wishlist, per a report. And according to Sky Sports Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante, Chelsea is plotting for a summer swoop for Jules Kounde, Declan Rice and Ousmane Dembele.

With contract negotiations still ongoing for Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea want to bring in Kounde to solve their looming defensive crisis.

Although pricing Rice from West Ham will be a big ask Chelsea are adamant about going for their man.

And while Ousmane Dembele’s next destination is unclear the Blues are looking to land him on a free next summer and link him up with his former manager Thomas Tuchel.
