Cenk Tosun asks to leave Everton

Everton

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Everton midfielder Cenk Tosun is interested in a move away from the club. The 30-year-old midfielder seems unfazed by the arrival of new coach Frank Lampard and wants a move-out.

WHAT FORCES ARE AT PLAY FOR CENK TOSUN?

When a new manager arrives at a club all players are expected to get a fresh start. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Cenk Tosun.

Sabah states that the 30-year-old also demands a fee of €1 million (£ 832,000), with a portion of his contract, bought out by the Toffees. The Turk earns about €3 million annually.

Tosun has played a meagre six minutes so far this season in the Premier League. With three additional minutes in the FA Cup. He’s far from a key player for the Merseyside club.

The 30-year old’s contract expires in June and the winter transfer window was an opportunity to move the Turk and save some wages. In fact, PSV Eindhoven and Hull City were keen to sign Tosun but he rejected their advances. His heart was set out on a return to Besiktas, the club where he prospered and produced his best performances.

The Turk striker didn’t feature for Rafa Benitez and also looks unlikely to play much under Lampard. With Richalison and Dominic Calvert Lewin available, the 30-year-old will find it hard to break into the first team. Solomon Rondon and Lewis Dobbin fill in as backups, leaving the Turk forward in the reserves.

COULD A TRANSFER FOR TOSUN STILL HAPPEN?

Technically, a transfer is still possible. Even though the transfer window in England has slammed shut, the transfer window in Turkey remains open until 8th February. So, while Everton cannot sign any players, they can still sanction outgoing transfers.

Given Tosun’s desire to play regular football and Besiktas’ need to reinforce the attack, a transfer could eventually happen but Besiktas will have to adhere to Tosun’s demands.
