Chelsea grabbed a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Thursday.
Chelsea started the game on the front foot and were on the lookout for an early lead. The blues created a good few chances but were unable to convert on any of them. Kai Havertz was slotted in perfectly from N’Golo Kante. But David De Gea was yet again there to save Manchester United.
But the visiting side did find the finding touch in the 59th minute as Marcos Alonso scored in brilliant fashion from a volley following a deflected cross from Reece James. Manchester United levelled the scoreline just three minutes later. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 23rd goal of the season from a lobbed pass from Nemanja Matic. Ralf Rangnick tried to win the game late on by introducing Juan Mata. But Chelsea were able to hold on to the draw and the game ended 1-1.
Chelsea player ratings
Edouard Mendy 6
Mendy had next to nothing to do in the whole game. But he did make two saves and could not do anything to save the shot from Ronaldo.
Marcos Alonso – 7
The left wing-back scored a brilliant volley and caused United a lot of trouble down the left flank.
Cesar Azpilicueta 6
The blue’s captain looked very solid defensively. He made three interceptions and four clearances.
Thiago Silva 6
Yet another very solid performance at the back from the 37-year-old. Silva recorded one block and clearance.
Antonio Rudiger 5
Returning to the starting lineup after missing the last few games due to injury. Rudiger looked solid and he was fortunate to not see red on the day.
Reece James 8
James looked very very solid in attack and defence. The right wing-back recorded the most touches, tackles, touches in the opposition box and crosses on the day.
Jorginho 7
Jorginho dominated possession and proceedings. The Italian midfielder’s passing was top notch on the night.
N’Golo Kante 6
Kante played a few brilliant through balls in the first half, but he was caught in possession leading to the Manchester United equalizer.
Mason Mount 7
Mount was yet again the heart and soul of the Chelsea attack. He played plenty of long balls and slick passes.
Kai Havertz 5
Despite getting the assist for the Alonso goal in FPL, Havertz had a very poor game. The striker should have scored in the first half.
Timo Werner 6
Wener’s movement on the night was class but he could not get quite as involved as he would have liked.
