Chelsea offers Romelu Lukaku to Mourinho’s Roma

Lukaku to be seen in Newcastle

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea underwent a significant squad revamp this summer, and it appears that the Argentine is still cleansing the Blues of undesired players. Chelsea has spent nearly £350 million on nine players so far in this transfer window, including a British transfer record for Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion. Meanwhile, 15 stars moved out for over £200 million. But still, Pochettino continues to be in the process of offloading a few players.

Chelsea are trying thier best to offload Lukaku this summer

Foremostly, the Argentine wants to get rid of Romelu Lukaku. According to The Telegraph, the Belgian has not even communicated with the new manager since his arrival. He has been practising with the U21 team instead of receiving a squad number for the 2023–24 season. Earlier in the transfer window, Lukaku made it certain that he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge and preferred a return to Inter Milan. Juventus fans objected about signing the Belgian striker in addition to Nerazzuri unwilling to sign him. But still, Lukaku might still be headed to Serie A after receiving a lifeline from Roma and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho. According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea directors and Roma CEO Lina Souloukou met earlier this week to discuss a potential move for Lukaku.

Roma wants Lukaku on a loan deal

Romelu Lukaku is still appealing to Roma as a backup striker. After completing Sardar Azmoun’s transfer, the capital club is looking for another attacker for Jose Mourinho’s squad. Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport reports that Roma are still hoping to sign Romelu Lukaku away from Chelsea. Roma are reportedly fascinated in the prospect of getting Lukaku ina loan deal before the transfer deadline, despite the tricky situation and various challenges in the way. The Belgian striker is about to leave Chelsea, although his rumoured transfer to Juventus hasn’t happened yet. Blues are still working to get Lukaku a long-term permanent transfer. They’re hoping he’ll accept Saudi Arabia or any other club’s offer that offers their asking price.

The 30-year-old, though, is supposedly priced at £35 million by Chelsea, making a transfer tough to accomplish. Instead, a loan move is on the cards. However according to Sky Sports Italia, that will only happen if Roma are unable to sign Duvan Zapata from Atalanta, who is their top choice. Lukaku has already played for Mourinho twice. Once for Chelsea during the 2013–14 season and once for Manchester United for 18 months before the Portuguese manager’s dismissal. For now, only time will tell us about Lukaku’s next destination. Chelsea are willing to further negotiate a permanent transfer of the Belgian.
