Belgium accepts Chelsea’s request regarding Romeo Lavia

Chelsea Bid

Romeo Lavia, Chelsea’s new midfielder, will not be used by Belgium until he is fully recovered.
Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard reports that Romeo Lavia was excluded off their most recent squad due to an agreement between Chelsea and the Belgian national team.

Belgium excludes Romeo Lavia from squad after Chelsea’s request

Kinsella stated on Twitter of the 19-year-old’s exclusion from the Belgium national team that:

“Romeo Lavia is not in Belgium’s squad as he continues his strength and conditioning work following a disrupted pre-season at Southampton due to his summer transfer saga. Chelsea got an agreement with the Red Devils not to use him until he is at full fitness.”

Lavia cost Chelsea a lot of money this summer when they acquired him from Southampton in a £58 million transfer. However the Belgian international has yet to make an appearance for his new team.
He will now be looking to earn his debut when the Blues visit the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth following the international break.

Lavia played for Southampton in 29 Premier League games last year. Despite relegation of the club, the youngster made 16 chances, scored a goal, and completed 856 of 991 passes. He had a passing efficiency of 86.38%. Lavia is an extremely aggressive competitor who participated in 30 take-ons, made 60 tackles, and won 137 ground battles. In addition, he recorded 33 interceptions and 23 clearances.

Chelsea appeared to have a severe lack of midfield depth after selling Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic and letting N’Golo Kante leave on a free transfer. However, once Lavia and Moises Caicedo arrived, Chelsea’s midfield looks terrifying. Lavia now has time to improve his physical condition and adapt to Mauricio Pochettino’s coaching style. In light of this, the former Southampton player continues to train at Cobham to increase his strength and speed. Thus Chelsea Supporters are eagerly waiting for the debut of the youngster
