Chelsea have faced their 3rd defeat against Manchester City this season. Chelsea’s defeat against Manchester City in the premier league surely had some hope for the blues. After the FA cup loss, all of those hopes look shattered. The starting 40 minutes of the game were enough for the fans to give up on all the expectations.
The match was over even before the first half ended as City were leading by 3-0. Although they were gifted a penalty later on when Koulibaly made a foul on Foden. Mahrez comfortably placed the penalty kick inside the net to make it a brace for himself.
Chelsea are in a very bad position and chants about the former manager and the owner did not make it any better. There was frustration on and off the pitch for the Blues.
Points from the Chelsea loss against City
The last season was enough to show how clinical and important Thiago is for Chelsea. Any game he misses is a disadvantage for Chelsea. Obviously, his rotation is necessary given his age and fitness and the league position in the table.
Other players like Azpilicueta, Zakaria, and Cucurella were on the bench. Potter commented that he needed to find a balance within the team.
He said:
“They’ll help us out in the back-end of the game so it’s just a balancing act at the moment but we feel we’ve got a team that can compete and get through to the next round.”

“The opportunity came up for them to play and they won’t let us down. I’m pretty sure of that. I’m excited to see them play.“
The result was poor and so was the performance. Chelsea looked lost throughout the game and Havertz making that hand save was not at all expected.
Chelsea players were clearly frustrated and the lack of chances being created only increased their frustration. 10 minutes before the final whistle, Chelsea’s captain made a foul and kicked the ball at the advertising board showcasing his frustration with the team.
Injury crisis for the blues
Although Mason Mount returned back to action, the list of Injured players is still the same for Potter. The injured players list includes some key players such as Raheem Sterling, Reece James, and Mendy. Recently Aubameyang also did not travel with the squad.

“Christian just opened up his knee in the game the other day. So, we’re still analysing it. It’s going to be weeks for him. Raheem just had an action, first minute of the game, a backheel that was a little bit strange and he felt something in his hamstring. So again, we’re analysing that. Aubameyang has had a tight back yesterday, so was unable to travel.”
Chelsea’s performance has been average and the club’s fitness record is hampering it even more. Both areas need urgent improvement with the hope of making this season slightly better.
