Arsenal player Kai Havertz received criticism since the season started

Darren Bent, a former striker for Tottenham Hotspur, has come to the defense of Arsenal signing Kai Havertz. Havertz had faced criticism from talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein, who labeled the German player as rubbish. However, Bent vehemently disagreed with this assessment.

Addressing the matter on the radio station, Bent expressed his viewpoint: “I mean, he’s far from rubbish. He’s a skilled footballer. It’s quite a stretch to label him as rubbish. Just consider the level he’s performing at. It’s evident that he’s anything but rubbish. You only need to observe the level he’s competing in.”

Havertz marked a substantial investment for Arsenal. Since, they secured his signature for a fee of £65 million from their London counterparts, Chelsea. He commenced in the Gunners’ Premier League debut last weekend and played a role in their 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Can Havertz do wonders in Arsenal?

Havertz is by no means a poor footballer. While it’s accurate that he might not be the most prolific forward, he did register seven goals in the Premier League during the previous season.

Nonetheless, Havertz possesses versatility in his ability to operate both as a forward and behind the striker. Additionally, under Mikel Arteta’s management, he has also been deployed in a midfield position.

In straightforward terms, the 24-year-old exhibits impressive versatility. However, his former managers would emphasize that his capability to initiate play from various positions is just one aspect of his contributions.

Given his talent and the significant investment made by Arsenal, it’s reasonable to expect Havertz to enhance his goal-scoring output. However, if he is slated to operate in midfield for the Gunners, his impact should not be solely assessed based on his goal tally.
