Arsenal on the lookout for Joshua Zirkzee as their striker search continues

Arsenal

To acquire their primary forward target this month, Arsenal might need to pay an additional £15 million. Since, Mikel Arteta aims to bolster the squad.

Arsenal has faced challenges in scoring goals from open play this season. Thus, experiencing a significant decline compared to the previous term under Mikel Arteta. Last season, Arsenal achieved a club record in the Premier League era by scoring 88 goals. Thus, coming close to challenging Manchester City for the title.

The current season has seen a struggle for goals from the same set of players at Arsenal, with some of them misfiring compared to their previous performances. Additionally, the new signing Kai Havertz has garnered mixed reactions from fans due to his perceived lack of presence in setting up or scoring a goal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Gunners are reportedly interested in securing Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee. The publication suggests that the club’s sporting director, Edu Gaspar, is willing to pay a premium to secure the services of the player.

Arsenal might go all out for Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee, the Dutch striker, transitioned to Serie A from Bayern Munich. However, Bayern Munich reportedly holds a buyback option for approximately £35 million. Bologna is reportedly seeking £50 million for Zirkzee’s transfer.

Arsenal might face financial constraints to acquire the 22-year-old Joshua Zirkzee this month. TEAMtalk proposes that selling Eddie Nketiah for a reported £30 million could potentially provide the necessary funds. With Crystal Palace reportedly showing interest in the Arsenal player.

The potential sale of Hale End product Eddie Nketiah could be deemed as legit profit. Thus, helping Arsenal stay within the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations. Offloading an academy graduate like Nketiah might play a crucial role in facilitating the acquisition of a new player for the club during this transfer window.
