Arsenal linked with a move for Leicester City midfielder

About Football Express UK

Arsenal are linked with a move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans in the transfer window and could make a swoop this summer.

The Foxes are perhaps expecting a bid from Arsenal for one of their midfielders whose exit seems imminent this summer. Tielemans is under the Gunners’ radar and there is possibility that Arsenal will place a bid in the coming weeks.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a player who can take up the box-to-box role on the pitch this coming season. Now, their hunt for such a profile seems to have gained shape in the form of Leicester’s midfielder Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans to join Arsenal?

Arsenal do have Albert Sambi Lokonga but have second thoughts regarding his role as a midfielder in the box-to-box area. Moreover, due to their second thoughts, Tielemans’ name has come up in the discussions within the board for a move.

Lokonga wants to take up the box-to-box role rather than playing as a defensive midfielder as he played last season. However, the club is not fully convinced and the arrival of Tielemans to the Emirates could very well be on.

The Arsenal midfielder spoke in an interview regarding Arsenal being linked with Tielemans in the transfer window. In the interview as quoted by Football London, he said-

“I try to not pay attention to all of that stuff. When you play for a big club, people have expectations, ‘yeah, you need to buy this player’, or, ‘this player is rubbish’, for me I just focus on myself and focus on my job.

“If I was scared of competition I would not have chosen Arsenal. Coming here I knew there would be competition, at my previous club there was competition as well so it’s part of football.

I think competition can make you better.”

Leicester would certainly demand a fee rather than see Tielemans leave on a free next summer.
