Arsenal interested in a new Centre back inorder to bolster their defence

Arsenal

Arsenal are interested in a new Centre back who can also play Right back. They need to bolster their defence this summer. The need to make sure they don’t fall short of the title next season. Saliba’s injury hurted them this season. A solid back would mean Arsenal would be strong competitors next season.

Arsenal linked with Centre backs who can play Right back as well

Arsenal have had some defensive issues in the latter part of the current campaign. With injuries to Saliba, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and now Zinchenko, causing some problems as season’s before. Saliba’s injury was particularly problematic because of Tomiyasu’s absence. Arsenal were unable to shift Ben White across into a centre-back role because of the lack of cover on the right.

David Ornstein went on to say,

“I’ve heard suggestions (they could look for somebody) maybe that can also play at centre-half as well if needed. An auxiliary centre-back/right-back who can play in both, not too dissimilar to Tomiyasu.”

Fabrizio Romano then confirmed that Arsenal had sent scouts to follow Sikaman on multiple occasions. Simakan is “appreciated” by the club. But there’s nothing advanced or imminent at this stage. He would be someone who will improve Arsenal’s defense drastically. Highly rated over there in Germany, he could be one of those defenders for the ages. He looks ready for the Premier League. He is said to be faster than Sadio Mane.

Arsenal are showing an interest in AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori as they consider adding another centre back. Rob Holding has tried his best to fill in for the injured William Saliba. But it’s very clear that he isn’t quite on the same level. Maybe this is the next step Arsenal need to take.

Chris Wheatley during a recent interview said:-

“We know they’re looking at Mohamed Simakan, he’s a player they really do like, he is on the shortlist and Mikel Arteta will try to bring that player in this summer,”

“Arsenal are looking for a right-back below the age of 24, they want someone athletic who suits that Premier League, fluid style that Arteta likes to play.”
