Arsenal Could be looking to Sell Aubameyang and Lacazette To Barcelona

Arsenal

Arsenal is said to be open to selling Aubameyang and Lacazette in this summer transfer window. This comes after it is reported that both the players were unwell to play against Brentford last week. It has been reported that the club won’t mind swapping the players for Phillipe Coutinho from Barcelona.

After the sudden removal of Aubameyang and Lacazette from the Arsenal matchday squad, everyone was confused. This comes after both the players being present in the training day photos before the match. Many are speculating that the two players’ attitude during the training session had caused Arteta to remove them from the squad. Currently, Lacazette has one year left on his contract. Whereas Aubameyang last season signed a 3-year contract extension with the club. It has been noticed during the friendlies Aubameyang had a very low work rate and most of the match could be seen lazing around. Not running into spaces or making runs to support his fellow teammates.

Lacazette on the other hand could be seen running back to help the team defensively. Due to this, his average position during the match had been close to the half-line. Neither player during the friendlies against Chelsea and Tottenham scored or assisted a goal. In the eyes of multiple fans, they wish for both the players to be sold because of their lack of involvement with the squad build-up play. As a fellow Arsenal fan, I hoped for the two players to be at least clinical in front of goal. At the least score 10 goals in the league and assist more.

Why Is Arsenal Not Shying Away From The Potential Swap Deal for Aubameyang And Phillipe Coutinho?

Currently, Arsenal has 4 registered strikers out of with 2 of them are Aubameyang and Lacazette. Eddie Nketiah is currently injured which leaves the 20-year striker Balogun the only fit striker in the squad. While in the Central-attacking position, Arsenal has just one player Emile-Smith-Rowe who is currently 21 years old. In their loss against Brentford, Arsenal had an average squad age of 24.6. Compare that to the likes of Manchester United who had an average squad age of 26.2. Currently, the club needs to sign another central attacking midfielder and Striker for the reason of team rotation.

Phillipe Coutinho hasn’t been in the best form or fitness. The player has just come to reported full fitness. This transfer would make sense if this would help the club offload Aubameyang due to the wages and length of his current contract. After doing so, they will immediately need to sign another striker to fill the void that will be created. There are another 2 weeks left in the transfer window. It will be quite the anxious next few days for the club looking to sign players and if possible selling all the deadwood.
