The Jamaican teen is now eligible to play for Chelsea after his 18th birthday. He joined the Chelsea youth team from Phoenix academy. The young Jamaican has been promising and has potential to become a star player at Chelsea.

Chelsea looking to strengthen striker position

It’s no secret that Chelsea are looking to bring a goal scoring striker to Stamford Bridge who can score 20-30 goals a season. Recent from of Nicolas Jackson is a boost for Mauricio Pochettino, but the club doesn’t see him as the solution. Jackson recently scored a hattrick against Spurs giving a major boost to Chelsea’s morale.
Ivan Toney has been the favourite candidate for Chelsea in striker position. But the club officials believe that he might come expensive for the blues. Spending is not a problem for a club like Chelsea, but they are worried about the Financial Fair Play rules, after recent punishment given to Everton.
Victor Osimhen has also been a target for the blues, as the player has had a fallout with Napoli officials. But the price issue with the Nigerian is even bigger, as he has proven himself in the Serie A as a prolific striker.

Richards can play a role in attack

However, the young striker is not expected to become a starter for Chelsea anytime soon. He might be a good rotation option for Pochettino, until he proves himself as a reliable youngster like Cole Palmer. Richards can provide depth in attack as he is said to play on any side in the forward position. This can be a beneficial trait for the blues, to have an adaptive forward providing options in the attack.
