Will Arsenal be able to strengthen their squad before the end of the transfer window?

About Football Express UK

At the start of the January transfer window, Arsenal fans were optimistic that they might bring in some new faces in the attacking slot as well as in midfield. However, on the Deadline day, they are yet to secure any incoming in this transfer window.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang seemingly played his last game for Mikel Arteta’s side. And the Gabonese are linked with a move to Barcelona. So, if this deal does happen then the Gunners will remain with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette in the squad.

The north London club’s issue in the attacking position is apparent in the recent games. As they have failed to score in the last four games in all competitions. The Gunners have scored only one goal since the start of the new year.

Arteta was keen on signing Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic. But, the player did not fancy joining the north London club. And in the end, he decided to join the record Serie A champions Juventus.

Meanwhile, after failing to sign the Serbian, the Gunners have reportedly shifted their attention to Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak who has scored four goals in 18 La Liga appearances. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the north London club will decide about their striker situation before the transfer deadline.

Can Arsenal strengthen the midfield?

Arsenal started the season with short in numbers in their midfield department. As they only had Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga. Meanwhile, Xhaka was heavily linked with a move away from the club and Lokonga, the youngster had just joined from Anderlecht.

The Gunners were linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo. However, Arteta’s side was asking for a six-month loan deal. But the Bianconeri are not willing to let him go for just six months. Therefore, both sides failed to reach an agreement over this transfer.

So, it will be interesting to see what the north London club will decide to do in the final few hours of the transfer window. They need strengthening in their attacking department to challenge for the top-four finish.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Manchester United are among the clubs who are in the race for the top-four finish. The nemesis Spurs have strengthened their squad in this winter transfer window. And therefore, without a quality goal scorer in the squad. It will be extremely tough for Mikel Arteta to qualify for the Champions League next season.
