Arsenal have shown interest in signing Lucas Paqueta from Olympique Lyon. Paqueta was an important part of Lyon’s squad in the concluded 2021/22 season. In the 2021/22 season, Paqueta has scored 11 goals and 7 assists in 44 appearances for Lyon in all competitions.
Although Paqueta was in great touch throughout the season, It was a different case for Lyon. Lyon ends the season in 8th failing to qualify for European Football. Rightfully so, Paqueta has shown his desire to leave Lyon before the upcoming season.
Earlier, Paqueta was linked with a move to Newcastle United. However, they could not reach an agreement as Paqueta stays in the club.
Paqueta is a very versatile player and Lyon has taken advantage of his versatility. Lyon has used Paqueta in a number of ways in the final third and has excelled most of the time.
Paqueta has three more years left in his contract with a contract that lasts until 2025. Although He wants to leave for Lyon following their terrible season.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had confirmed that several clubs have shown interest in getting Paqueta.
“There are offers for him. There are some players who can feel fully fulfilled in the project, and others who are not. Economically, we have the means to pursue our ideas and our objectives. The coach gave us his opinion and there is also what the players want to do.”
Lyon Manager Bosz also gave a toned-down version of his conversation with Paqueta.
“Lucas is a very important player, but it depends on what the player wants. I’ve already had a conversation with him, but that will remain between us.”
It seems Paqueta will leave Lyon in the coming days and Arsenal need to decide whether they need him or not.
