Thierry Henry explains why Timo Werner failed at Chelsea

About Football Express UK

Chelsea striker Timo Werner was struggling to find the back of the net in the Premier League. Scoring just 23 goals in all competitions for the blues in his two seasons.

Thierry Henry claims Chelsea Fans didn’t love him

Chelsea bought Werner for £47.5 million from RB Leipzig in 2020. The German striker had a short career with the blues and was said to be a flop even after winning a Champions League medal.

Werner was always criticized for his finishing qualities which was not a problem during his time with the German club. Thierry Henry On CBS sports said,

“I will call it confidence. You have players who don’t care if you put your arm around them. They will come, execute and leave.”

He added,

“Then you have some players that need to feel love. They need to feel that they are going to play for 90 minutes. The best example is the second goal. He would have rushed it trying to do something, overthinking it and overdoing it. I saw it before, he was calm before and he is calm again.

“Sometimes you go to some places they don’t show you that love, I’m not saying he didn’t have it but he didn’t feel it like he felt it at Leipzig, then you aren’t going to be at your best and you won’t take the right decision. “

After his exit from Chelsea to RB, Leipzig Werner has scored seven goals in his 13 appearances for the German club.
