Roy Keane went to say strong words about Mason Mount. Roy Keane has claimed that reported Arsenal and Manchester United target Mason Mount has ‘gone missing’ for a couple of years now at Chelsea.
The Englishman will soon enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. As things stand, it doesn’t look like Mount will sign a new deal, and that has made him a wanted man.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all interested in signing Mount, but Keane doesn’t think he will be a good signing at all, as per his comments on Sky Sports.
Roy Keane keeps his stand when it comes to Mason Mount
Roy went on to say:-
“I wouldn’t be so sure about Mount.
“He’s just gone off the boil a little bit. I know he can bounce back and he’s got the quality, even I was raving about him a few years ago, but he has just gone missing in the last year or two – getting one or two injuries, the fact that he can’t get into this bad Chelsea team.
“I wouldn’t be hanging my hat too much on him in terms of improving United and closing the gap. We think he’s a good player, but would he improve Man United? I’m not so sure.”
In an eventful turn of events, Arsenal are now interested in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. Arsenal want to secure him before he signs his new contract. He will be available for cheap this summer if he doesn’t extent his contract.
Where Mount fits into this Arsenal team is unknown. He may not be defensively sound enough to fit into Granit Xhaka’s role. One would imagine that both Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli would be favoured in the attacking midfield spots that Mount can also occupy.
Chelsea are in no rush to let the player leave. With the contract talks hitting a speed bump as of late. Liverpool won’t give up this transfer battle without a fight. Mason Mount would be a talent that would fit to any club. However, this is the best time to move in for a player like him. With contract talks on hold he is available for cheap than usual.
