Newcastle prepared to let Allan Saint-Maximin go

About Football Express UK

Reports say that Newcastle United are prepared to sell their ace forward Allan Saint-Maximin. They will seek a new top-class forward to replace the 25-year-old, as part of Eddie Howe’s plans to revamp his attack.

Howe has given the approval to sell the winger. He will be permitted to leave if the northeast giants get one of their attacking targets. Newcastle will seek one or two forwards to replace the Frenchman.

Why are Newcastle selling Allan Saint-Maximin?

Saint-Maximin’s inability to provide an end-product is a source of frustration for the manager and coaching staff. If their asking price is met, Newcastle is ready to sell him. Newcastle values the 25-year-old at around the £40Million price tag.

His last goal came in a 1-1 draw against Watford on 15th January. Since then, he has only made 16 appearances and had 2 assists.

Previously, under Steve Bruce, Saint-Maximin was often the sole source of offensive creativity in the Newcastle squad. However, Howe’s different system and offensive structure have reduced the team’s reliance on him for goals and assists.

The arrival of Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes in January had far more of an impact on the club’s attack in the second half of the season.

Saint-Maximin has made 94 total appearances for Newcastle United since his arrival for Nice in 2019. He has scored 12 goals and made 16 assists.

Newcastle United have an interest in quite a few targets. Leicester’s James Maddison, Chelsea’s Armando Broja, as well as Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.
